SMIT TRANSFORMATOREN B.V. is a world leader in the development and manufacture of large power transformers since 1913. Smit manufactures units up to 1000 MVA, 525 kV, 1675 kV BIL.

For over 90 years SMIT earned its reputation as an independent transformer manufacturer in the dynamic and high-demanding markets of Europe and the United States. By using its own in-house developed unique design features and manufacturing know-how, the company has always fulfilled the requirements of its customers in line with national and international specifications and testing standards. SMIT has the required testing facilities for the performance of special tests when applicable, and, in addition, uses the renowned KEMA short-circuit laboratories which are located only ten miles from the SMIT plant.

SMIT was the first transformer manufacturer to get an ISO 9001 certification and is constantly pursuing improvement of the quality of its organizational processes and products.
